MYRTO DRAMOUNTANI

MYRTO DRAMOUNTANI is a fashion designer, architect and founder of the contemporary clothing and accessories brand bearing her name. The company started its journey in London, continued in Dubai and finally settled in Athens, where the designer creates and produces her collections. The MYRTO DRAMOUNTANI flagship store is located at 30 Tsakalof Street, in Kolonaki.

The distinctive aesthetic value of the brand is evident in the fabric itself, which is approached as a three-dimensional surface and exposed to a sophisticated laser-cut process. Using contemporary computational design techniques and digital fabrication technology, MYRTO DRAMOUNTANI creates her 2D–3D laser-cut patterns, which generate an avant-garde look and define her unique identity within the fashion industry.

Studying Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design in New York inevitably gave MYRTO DRAMOUNTANI a New York City fashion scene perspective, affecting the shaping of her personal style. However, her first involvement with design had come earlier through her studies in Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens, where she inherited architectural principles that continue to influence the way she approaches forms and deals with patterns, even using architectural design software such as AutoCAD to create her designs.

The relationship between fashion and architecture lies at the core of her work:

“Fashion for me has an architectural dimension and application. We construct clothes for the same reason we construct a house: we seek a shelter for the body and we achieve that through geometric designs. Our clothes protect us, create feelings and impressions and finally co-function with us. So does the space we live, move or work in.

The approach followed to construct a dress shares similar metaphors, vocabulary and techniques with architectural construction. So when I design clothes, I am always influenced by architecture and I even use architectural design software in order to create my designs. My vision is to cover, as well as reveal, the body in a structural way.”

MYRTO DRAMOUNTANI creations have been internationally recognized for their uniqueness and aesthetic sophistication, while her work has received extensive editorial coverage across leading fashion and lifestyle publications in Greece and internationally.

At the same time, the belief that a fashion item should have longevity and remain part of our lives beyond a single season is an essential part of her philosophy:

“Fashion items should follow a full life circle. Thus, I design clothes that could be worn almost all year long, on different occasions throughout the day, and for many years.”
